On May 14, 2014 Children and Youth in Care Day was proclaimed by the government of Ontario to raise awareness about children and youth in the care of the Province. There are approximately 12,000 children and youth in care in Ontario. Each year 800 - 1,000 individuals ‘age out’ and leave the care of the Ontario child welfare system.
