Indigenous Water protectors have been arrested on charges of trespass on lands where they are entitled to hunt, fish, gather, and travel, as guaranteed by these treaties signed by the US government and affirmed by the US Supreme Court. Treaties are the supreme law of the land, and water protectors who put their bodies on the line to uphold these treaties are facing escalated charges and police repression.
