Why I Kesem

Why I Kesem

As we look ahead to #CampKesem next summer, we've been thinking about our "why." We’re thinking about the child whose mom was diagnosed with cancer this year, who wishes that they could talk to any of their classmates about what they’re worried about at home. We’re thinking about the young father battling cancer for the second time, hoping to finally find a safe place for his kids to connect with friends that understand them, to see them laughing and playing again. We’re thinking about the oldest sibling in a big family, who helps take care of their younger sisters and brothers while their parent undergoes treatment, that desperately wants a friend to lean on when they’re not feeling so strong. But while cancer may stop us, Kesem moves us. We believe all children facing a parent's cancer deserve the chance to fully experience the joys of childhood and be their best selves. At camp, our campers find the fun, friendship, and connection that they need to navigate this challenging journey - because no child should have to do it alone. You can help us ensure that for more kids than ever, #KesemMagic and motion await. Make a gift that is meaningful to you, and let's send more kids to camp: [insert chapter fundraising link].
