Experts estimate because of COVID-19’s impact on nutrition alone, by 2022 an additional:
- 168 thousand children will die
- 9.3 million children will become wasted (underweight for their height)
- 2.6 million children will be stunted
- 3 million children will be born underweight
- 2.1 million women will have maternal anemia
New pledges, including those raised today, are an essential start to reversing this trend, but more must be done.
