Doulas, midwives, and non-traditional birthworkers have played a key role in ensuring women, birthing people, and babies are provided with the essential care required during pregnancy and after birth. Evidence suggests that community-based doula programs can reduce or eliminate health disparities by providing support to women most at risk for poor outcomes.
