Silence the Shame is a nonprofit organization that focuses on education and awareness around mental health. Our programs and initiatives consist of Crisis Response Trainings, Community Conversations, Wellness Trainings, digital content, and outreach events. We aim to normalize the conversation, peel back the layers of shame, eliminate stigma, and provide support for mental well-being.
Established as The Hip-Hop Professional Foundation, the organization gained momentum quickly when Silence the Shame was launched as an anti-stigma mental health awareness campaign. STS Founder Shanti Das partnered with influencers and celebrities through social media to bring awareness to mental health and the impact of stigma. With this momentum, the organization moved to change the Hip-Hop Professional Foundation's name to Silence the Shame, Inc. to maintain branding.
Healing in Public (HIP) is a mental health and crisis recovery initiative to create safe spaces for everyone to be radically honest, transparent, and vulnerable without shame. With over two years of surviving the pandemic, our minds, body, and energy are depleted, and the level of uncertainty on how we move forward is profound. Whether experiencing challenges internally or externally, healing in public is a call for grace for everyone to unmask in the open. Our brains were not made to endure this stress level; It is giving yourself permission to feel your feelings, connect with your friends and give yourself grace during this time.
Silence the Shame will host the second annual “A Brilliant Mind Gala” Sneaker Edition on Saturday, May 14, 2022, from 7 pm - 11 pm at the Westside Cultural Arts Center in Atlanta, Georgia. This immersive experience of hope and healing in mental health will highlight people with mental challenges healing in public through recovery awareness. At the same time, we will interact with cocktails, dinner, dancing, and auction to raise funds for mental health programs and supports in our evening wear and sneakers. But we need your help!

Silence the Shame Community Conversations are curated panel discussions that create a safe environment to discuss mental health. Founder Shanti Das typically moderates the discussion and we include licensed mental health professionals and those with lived experiences. As a result of this global pandemic, Silence the Shame has been hosting free webinars on Zoom to provide healthy ways to cope during the quarantine.

Self-Care Saturdays are virtual and face to face sessions to engage people in wellness activities to reduce feelings of stress, manage mental illnesses and promote social connectedness. For each event, we partner with various zumba, yoga and other fitness instructors to provide engaging content for the community to practice mental wellness strategies at home and access behavioral health resources.
